Obituary

Georgia B. Gossard, 85, of Redfield, SD died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Georgia was cremated and her memorial service will be Friday, April 23, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Reverend Tim Fugman will officiate. Georgia was born January 1, 1925 in Rockham, SD to Ralph and Marjorie (Lloyd) Carter. She grew up and attended Rockham High School. Georgia married William A. "Bud" Gossard February 23, 1946 in Redfield. She raised their family before working at JC Penney in Redfield for twenty-five years. Georgia was Bud's caregiver for many years before his death in 2003.

Georgia and Bud were very active members of the Paul A Schleher VFW Post #2755 and Auxiliary and they traveled nationwide with the VFW.

Georgia was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She knew all the players positions and what team they had been traded too if they were no longer Twins. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.

Georgia's biggest love was her family and she is survived by her daughters: Juanita Esser of Frankfort, SD; Sandy (Allan) Lewis of Redfield; and Brenda Fauth of Redfield. She is also survived by six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and her brother Edmund (Dorothy) Carter of Redfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bud, two brothers: Daryl and James Carter and two sisters: Velma Houghtaling and Karen Carter.
