Obituary

Gerald G. Binger, 77, of Tulare, SD, died Saturday, December 25, 2010 at his home in Tulare. His funeral will be Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Tulare United Church. Pastor Lorah Houser Jankord will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery west of Tulare. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Gerald Gene Binger was born April 22, 1933 near Tulare to Leslie and Mabel (Miller) Binger. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Tulare High School in 1951. He married Della Belle Binger on March 1, 1953 at the United Methodist Church in Tulare. Jerry served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. While serving in the Army, Della Belle followed him to Arkansas, Texas and Alaska. After his discharge they returned to the farm west of Tulare where Jerry farmed all his life. They moved into Tulare in 1997. Della Belle died in 2006.

Jerry enjoyed his daily drive in his pickup and camping.

He was a member of the Tulare United Church, Tulare American Legion, was a director for South Dakota Wheat Growers and St. John's Cemetery Sexton.

Gerald is survived by his children: Rick, Randy and Wayne (Doreen) Binger of Tulare; Karen (Jerry Gehring) Kohnen of Aberdeen, SD; and Kevin (Sandra) Binger of Selmer, TN; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren (soon to be seventeen). He is also survived by his sister Darilyn (Chuck) Seaman of Warner, SD and his cousin "brother" Tim Binger of Redfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Della Belle, in 2006 and an infant sister.
