Obituary

Gladys L. Paplow, 96, of Redfield, SD, died Friday, March 9, 2012 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Gladys was cremated and her memorial service will be Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Reverend Stephen Perry will officiate. Cremains burial will be in Castle Rock, Washington. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Gladys Lily Barness was born December 22, 1915 in Hitchcock, SD to Peter and Margery (McGaffin) Barness. She grew up in Hitchcock and graduated from Redfield High School. She married Carl Holmstead and they lived in Alaska for several years. Gladys married Robert Paplow and they lived in Washington State for many years. After Robert died Gladys moved to Rapid City and then to Redfield about ten years ago. She lived at the PBC apartments in Redfield.

She enjoyed fishing and traveling. Gladys spent many hours reading the bible.

She is survived by her son Paul Paplow of Alaska; her nieces: Darlene Dvorak of Rapid City, SD; Barbara Johnson of Minneapolis, MN; and Marge Heineman of Longdale, CA; and a cousin Joyce Kiesz.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, two brothers: Winston and Milton and her sister Eleanor Saylor.
