Gordon was born to Earl and Mabel (Lunstrum) Marzahn on January 2nd, 1946, in Redfield. He was raised on the family farm, east of Tulare. He graduated from Tulare High School and went on to attend South Dakota State University. He married Lynda Robertson on April 1, 1967. Gordon's passion was farming. He and Lynda moved to the Lunstrum homestead in December of 1968, shortly before their daughter, LeAnn was born. Their son Jay was born two years later. Lynda and Gordon divorced in 1995.
Gordon was a member of the National Guard and was a fifty-year member of Zenith Lodge #202 of Tulare. In his youth, he played a lot of softball. His family also took many trips to Terry Peak to snow ski. He loved to hunt, play cards, camp, and fish. He was a workaholic who fixed anything that needed it, whether a vehicle, tractor, new window or door in the home, plumbing, or electrical issues. He was constantly remodeling or fabricating something on the farm. He was exceptionally talented in every facet of life.
Over the course of the last five years, he wintered in Arizona with his close friend Evelyn Ost from Bassett, Nebraska where he purchased and remodeled property. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes, gathering vegetables, cooking, and playing cards with his Arizona neighbors. They really enjoyed their time in Arizona.
Grateful for sharing his life are his daughter LeAnn (Steve) Boomsma of Hitchcock, SD and their children: Charise Boomsma and Tyler Boomsma, of Colorado Springs, CO; Jacob (Kassie) Boomsma of Hitchcock; Jordann (Adam) Hansen of Redfield; Tyler (Brenna Sibson and her daughter, Paisleigh) McLain of Vermillion, SD; Christian (Cassie Beckett) and Kaytlyn Boomsma, of Hitchcock; and his son Jay (Shawna) Marzahn of Redfield and their children: Jerika (Cooper) Gordon of Tulare; Shyann, Tegan, and Paige Marzahn of Redfield. In addition, Gordon is survived by his special great-grandchildren: Isabella Vasquez; SJ, Hudson, and Amaya Boomsma; Carter, Callen, and Cambree Hansen; and Kemberlynn Gordon. He is also survived by his brother Loren (Cynthia) Marzahn of Redfield, and their children; many nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Evelyn Ost.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Mabel, and his sister Sandra Kyle.
