E. Grace Brown, 85, formerly of Northville, SD, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Manorcare Health Services in Aberdeen, SD.
Grace was cremated and her memorial service will be Monday, April 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Northwestern United Methodist Church in Mellette. Reverend Jon Damaska will officiate.
Cremains burial will be in the Northville Cemetery at a later date. www.thelenfuneralhome.com
Grace was born April 28, 1925 in Northville to Dewey and Mildred (Batteen) Henning. She grew up in Northville and graduated from Northville High School in 1943. Grace and Ernest Warren Brown were married March 7, 1944. They lived in Conde, a short time, then on a farm 10 miles west of Athol and moved back to Northville in 1966. Grace worked at James Valley Nursing Home in Redfield and wrote the Northville news for the Redfield Press for many years. Ernie died in 1994 and Grace continued living in Northville until 2007 when she sold her home and moved to Homestead in Aberdeen.
Grace was a long time member of the Northwestern United Methodist Church. She enjoyed word search puzzles and called bingo at the Mellette Senior Center and at Homestead. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Grace is survived by her children: Terry (Brenda) Brown of Aberdeen; Wayne (Penny) Brown of Mellette; Deb (Steve) Erb of Redfield; Peggy (Colin) Galvin of Huron, SD; eleven grandchildren: Scott (Erika) Brown, Greg (Jessica) Brown, Brandii (Ryan) Frisch, Ty Brown, Logan Brown, Shawnmarie (Bill) Burt, Shannon Krumvieda, Tiffany Simon, Coden Galvin, Haley Galvin and Heidi Galvin. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren, two sisters: Enid Leigh of Olathe, KS and Dortha Salvaag of Laurel, MT.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her son Tom and one brother Donald.
