Obituary

Hazel E. Masat, 99, of Redfield, SD, died Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Her funeral will be Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Redfield. Reverend Brian Wasmoen will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Hazel was born May 14, 1910 near Redfield to Fred and Elis (Johnson) Brink. Hazel married William Masat in Redfield on September 22, 1932. They farmed southeast of Redfield before moving into Redfield in 1966. Bill passed away in 1994 and was buried on their 62nd anniversary.

Hazel's greatest pleasures were spending time with her family, being active in her church and being the longest lifetime member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Hazel is survived by her three children Roger Masat of Redfield; Wilbur "Bert" (Judy) Masat of Redfield and Beverly (Tom) Wagner of Livingston, MT; seven grandchildren Steven Masat, Donald Masat, Paula Hamilton, Sheila Hansen, David Masat, Bill Wagner and Kate Wagner, nineteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Lillian (Gene) Flanders of Sun City, AZ and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, three brothers: Victor, Elmer and Rudy, two sisters: Helen Blume and Edna Schmidt and a daughter-in-law Pauline Masat.

Casketbearers will be her grandchildren and honorary casketbearers will be her great grandchildren.
