Helen Pauline Marie Lambert, 79, of Redfield, SD, died Thursday, December 24, 2015, at Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen.

Helen's funeral service will be Monday, December 28, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Redfield. Reverend Peter M. Utecht will officiate. After a time for lunch and fellowship, burial will be in the Prairie Valley Cemetery in Raymond, SD.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m, at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD. The family will be present from 4:00-5:00 p.m. to accept condolences. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Helen Pauline Marie Kohl was born November 12, 1936 in Bradley, SD to Fred and Amanda (Czmowski) Kohl. She grew up between Spink and Clark counties. Helen married Richard Lambert on October 20, 1954 in Clark. They moved to Redfield in 1977. Richard and Helen both worked at the South Dakota Developmental Center. Helen retired from SDDC in 2002 after working as a dietary aid for 25 years.

Helen's hobbies were reading and crossword puzzles and she loved her plants. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church. Helen will be remembered for her very kind heart and always helping others.

Helen is survived by her children: Dennis Lambert of Springfield, SD; Daniel (Dianna) Lambert of Watertown, SD; Darla (Edward) Scheer of Reidsville, NC; Donna Fortin (Russell Bau) of Redfield; Dawn Weyh of Sioux Falls, SD; James (Holly) Lambert of Zell, SD and Joseph (Leslie) Lambert of Zell, SD. She is also survived by her sister Rose Rieke; brother Bernard Kohl; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; several half brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard on April 21, 2014; daughter Deborah Lambert; grandson Cody Fortin; great grandson Evan Fortin and a half sister.
