Idella Ann (Staufer) Lout, age 83, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away peacefully at Avantara Redfield in Redfield, SD, on Monday, October 20th, 2025.

Family and friends will gather on Thursday night, October 23rd, at City Lights in Aberdeen at 5:00 p.m. Please come and share some memories of Idella.

Celebration of Life will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 24th, at Aberdeen First Assembly of God in Aberdeen. Fellowship will follow at the church. There will be no graveside committal service. Family requests wearing purple for Alzheimer's awareness.

Idella Staufer was born on July 22nd, 1942, in Zell, SD, the youngest of eight children, to Joseph and Ida Staufer. She attended school in Zell until moving to Aberdeen, graduating from Central High School in 1960. She helped run the family business and retired from Avera as a Dietary Manager.

On July 3rd, 1960, Idella married Raymond Lout in Aberdeen. They moved a few times early in their marriage, eventually settling in Aberdeen for good in 1974. Shortly after retiring, she was diagnosed with Dementia and was well taken care of at Avantara for the remainder of her life.

Idella was very active and had many hobbies, including crocheting, reading, bible studies, and working out with her friends at the Aberdeen Senior Center.

Idella is survived by her husband, Raymond of Mesa, AZ; brother Lyle (Sharon) Staufer of Lake Anna, VA; and many special cousins and in-laws. Also left to cherish her memory is a large extended family and a close group of friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Walter and Kenneth, and sisters Doris, Loretta, June, and Joyce.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Avantara Redfield for the wonderful care Mom received. And special thanks to all those who helped with checking on Ray and the house and just being there when our family needed you the most.
