Jack W. Vautherot, 86, of Redfield, SD died Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at the Eastern Star Home in Redfield. His memorial service will be Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eastern Star Home Chapel. Reverend Tim Fugman will officiate. Jack was born November 14, 1920 in San Bernardino, CA to Samuel and Gladys (Stanton) Vautherot. He graduated from high school in San Bernardino in 1940. Jack served in the United States Navy during World War II. After his discharge, he met Margaret Ohaco, at a dance, and they were married on December 7, 1946 in San Bernardino. Jack was manager for JC Penney Stores in El Paso, TX and California. Jack and Margaret moved to Redfield in 1999 to be closer to their daughter Kathy Scott. Margaret died in 2002.
As a youth Jack enjoyed collecting stamps. His favorite pastime was swimming in the ocean. He enjoyed watching baseball games, playing golf, playing cards, reading, music, bingo and exercising.
Jack is survived by his daughter Kathy (Tom) Scott of Ashton, two grandchildren Jason and Jackie Scott and his brother Bob (Betty) Vautherot of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret and his brother Willard.
