James "Jim" Amos Winegar, 86, of Redfield, SD, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Redfield Wesleyan Church. Reverend Josh Kendrick will officiate.

Burial, with full military rites, will be 2:00 p.m. MST on Friday, January 6, 2017 in the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.

Visitation will be prior to the service on Thursday from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. CST at the church. Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home of Redfield has been entrusted with arrangements. (www.thelen-hykefuneralhome.com)

James "Jim" Amos Winegar was born March 28, 1930 in Vayland, SD to Floyd and Catherine (Cable) Winegar. He attended school in Vayland and then joined the United States Air Force in 1948. Jim farmed by Wessington, SD, owned his own trucking business and drove truck for Roy Stover. He hauled rock for Wilson's Brothers Cement Plant, worked on Gavens Point Dam and at Homestake Mine. He also worked for a gas station in Miller, SD.

Jim and his wife, Marjorie, owned the Second Time Around Shop and Antique Store in Redfield for 29 years. Jim also enjoyed taking his sweetie, Marjorie, to Texas for the winter months and did so for many years.

Jim enjoyed dancing, playing cards, yard work and building small wagons, trailers and flower wagons.

He married Arlys Williams on March 20, 1949. They had three children: Bill, Floyd and Patty. He married Shirley Graves in 1974. Jim married Marjorie (Gasper) Wartenbee on January 12, 1981.

Jim is survived by his wife, Marjorie, of Redfield; his sister, Rosemary Hall of Redding, CA; his sons, Bill (Jan) Winegar and Floyd (Margie) Winegar, both of Rapid City, SD; his stepdaughters: Carolyn (Dan) Dylla of Clinton, UT and Marlene (Dean) Krause of Worthing, SD; his stepsons: Kenneth (Gina) Wartenbee of Watertown, SD and Billy (Molly) Wartenbee of Casper, WY; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Patty, and her husband Allan Campbell; his four sisters: Antoinette Sorenson-Heiser, Evelyn Winegar, Ramona Prentice and Lola Ragels and one great-grandson, Derek Winegar.
