James V. Pickar, 81, Redfield, SD passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Redfield Care and Rehabilitation Center in Redfield.  His memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday May 17, 2019, at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield.  Reverend Tom Anderson will officiate.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home (www.hykefuneralhome.com).   In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.

James Vincent Pickar was the seventh child of twelve children born to Paul and Daisy (Spore) Pickar on January 27, 1938 in Wadena, MN. His siblings were Carol Ann, David, Rosa, Darrel, Gordon, Betty, Helen, Dale, Francis, Rita and Edwin.  He attended country school in Nevis, MN.  James worked on the family farm.

In 1963, he married Zelta Mears, and to this union four daughters were born: Gail, Theresa "Tess", Jennie and Jamie.

James married Linda Boschee in 1975, and his fifth daughter, Tammy was born.  His hobbies included fishing, hunting and trapping.

James is survived by his daughters: Gail (Don) Amitrano, MN; Theresa (Lee) Yada; Jennie Pickar; Jamie Ferguson; and Tammy Pickar, all of Redfield; grandchildren: Theresa, Haley, Mercedes and Lily; and great-granddaughter Raylynn.

He is preceded in death by his wife Linda in 2018; his parents; grandson Jeremy; great-granddaughter, Raylynn's twin, Carter Lynn; and son in law Kenneth Winterberg.
