September 14, 1945 – January 20, 2017
Janice Lee (Quick) Heinzerling, 71, of Redfield, SD, passed away at home on Friday, January 20, 2017. Janice has been cremated and her memorial service will be Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. Reverend Tammy Toepke-Floyd will officiate. Burial of her ashes will be in the Castlewood City Cemetery, Castlewood, SD, at a later date. Thelen-Hyke Funeral has been entrusted with arrangements. (www.thelen-hykefuneralhome.com)
Janice Lee Quick was born September 14, 1945 in Estelline, SD to Marion and Elgia (Strain) Quick. She was raised and educated in the Castlewood area. On May 29, 1969, she married Robert Tellinghuisen in Watertown, SD. Robert passed away on April 29, 1979. Janice graduated from Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown with her LPN degree in 1980. She worked as a LPN in nursing homes for many years. On May 23, 1984, she married Larry Heinzerling in Denver, CO. Larry passed away on November 27, 2007.
Janice loved listening to country and gospel music, especially Elvis. She enjoyed sewing, wood working, cooking and baking. She was told several times that her pies were good enough to sell. Janice was an avid collector of teddy bears. She will always be remembered for her big friendly smile. Janice was a member of T.O.P.S., the Redfield Red Hat Society and served on the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Janice is survived by her sister-in-law, Lillian Quick of Gettysburg, SD, formerly of Watertown, SD; her step-sons: Danny Heinzerling; Dana (Kathy) Heinzerling; Dillon Heinzerling; and Dennis Heinzerling; and her step-daughters: Dawn (Rick) Sass and Denise Purintun. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews: David (Judy) Anderson, Sharon Berg, Ross (Verdyne) Quick, Scott (Robin) Quick and Kelly (Tim) Luken.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Robert and Larry; her sister, Maryan Anderson; her brother, Milton Quick and her niece, Darla Ebrite.
Cremains burial will be at a later date.
