Jason Royal Fliehe, 44, of Tulare, SD, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at his home. His funeral will be Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Redfield, SD. Lorah Houser Jankord, Pastor at Tulare United Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield.
Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The family will be present to accept condolences beginning at 6:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home of Redfield, SD. Jason was born March 25, 1972 to Joseph Reed and Christine (Bourassa) Fliehe in Langdon, ND. Christine and Jason moved back to Redfield where Christine later met and married Randy Fliehe who later adopted Jason. After several moves, he resided in Wessington, SD with his parents and siblings where he graduated from high school in 1990.
He joined the Marine Corps in 1991 and served in Somalia before being honorably discharged in 1995. He later served with the National Guard in Miller, SD until 2000. Jason was a Sergeant with the Department of Corrections in Redfield for 16 years and worked at Redfield Energy for the past 5 ½ years.
Jason married his best friend and love of his life, Kristi Baier, on May 8th, 1999. To this union, Tristin and Trajan were born. His family meant everything to him. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for his family and friends. He was known as "Uncle Buddy" to all his nieces and nephews. He was known to friends and family as "The Gentle Giant"; a name given to him by his Marine buddies. Jason was an avid Cowboys fan, loved being at the lake and camping. Jason also loved to hunt and just have a good time with family and friends.
Jason is survived by his wife, Kristi, his children: Tristin and Trajan, and his parents, Randy & Christine Fliehe, all of Tulare; his siblings: his brother, Kelly (Amber) Siebrecht of Redfield and their children, Logan, Kendyl and Braylee; his sister, Mandy (Steve Lemire) Fliehe of Redfield; his brother, Brent (Megan) Fliehe of Tulare and their children, Riley, Colyn, and Harper; his brother, Dustin (Brandi) Fliehe of Wolsey, SD and their children, Layla and Max; and his brother, Lance (Rachel) Fliehe of Aberdeen, SD and their children, Haiden and Henlee. He is also survived by his brother, Jacob Reed; his grandmother, Dora Elizabeth Fliehe of Redfield; his mother-in-law, Peggy Baier of Redfield; his sister-in-law, Tracy (Clinton Jones) Roberts of Tulare and children, Tevin, Tyler and Talyn; his niece, Emma Baier, of the late Dean Baier; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph; his grandfather, Eugene Fliehe; his maternal grandparents, Vital & Mildred Bourassa; his paternal grandparents, John & Jean Reed; his father-in-law, Oswald Baier and his brother-in-law, Dean Baier.
Family will be present beginning at 6:00 p.m. to accept condolences.
