Jean Ellen Price was born the eighth of eight children on September 12, 1930, in Huron, SD to Jacob and Bertha (Glaze) Price. She lived on the family farm by Hitchcock, SD until the family moved to Rock Springs, WY in 1937. After her mother passed away in 1939 and all five of her brothers later entered the army, the family eventually moved back to South Dakota.
On December 18, 1949, Jean married Stanley Skarin in Hitchcock. They lived on their farm for 50 years before moving to Redfield, SD in 1999. Stanley passed away on August 7, 2004.
Jean proudly worked beside her family on the farm and treasured those special times. She enjoyed camping when her children were young and then embroidery, reading, crossword puzzles, and watching tv later in life.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women in Hitchcock and later in Redfield where she also taught Sunday School and Bible Study.
Those left to cherish her life are her son, Cregg (Jolynn) Skarin of Redfield and their children and grandchildren: Sara (Jeff) Goldade and their daughter Kira; Jared (Steph) Skarin and their children Payton and Daniel; and Keri (Lance) Schade and their children Harper and Beckham; daughter, Marny Kearney of Nashville, TN and her children and grandchildren: Danielle Vis and her children: Carlie; Daisey; and Isaac and Carlie's daughter MacKenzie; and Joseph Kearney; and daughter, Diann (Ed) Brenner of Redfield and their children and grandchildren: Shannon (Mark) Malone and their children Kati and Kylee; and Jami (Stacy) Whitlock and their children Blaze, Ryker and Rory. She is also survived by a very special nephew Don (Joanne) Kopp of Rapid City, SD; sister Rozella Blunk of Green River, WY; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley; parents; and six siblings.
