Jeffrey "Jeff" Wayne Wagner, 76, of Redfield, SD, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 6, 2023, at the Redfield Community Memorial Hospital.

Jeff was born on December 20, 1946, in Spink County to Herb and Jean (Williams) Wagner.  He spent his childhood on the family farm.  He attended Tulare High School and South Dakota State University, receiving a degree in Animal Science.  Jeff served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Lewis in Tacoma, WA.  He served one tour in Vietnam in the 101 ^st Airborne.

On August 9, 1969, he married Sandra Beard in Redfield, SD.  Jeff farmed and ranched with his father, Herb, until Herb's death and continued to operate the family ranch until his retirement in 2017.  Jeff was a generous and kind neighbor and a gifted cattleman and rancher. He loved the ranch and the Spink County countryside. He enjoyed looking for Pasque flowers each spring in the pastures, driving the country roads, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Sandra of Redfield; daughter, Amber (Steve) Wagner of Tucson, AZ; granddaughter, Avery Spade of Bloomington, IN; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Jean Wagner, and his daughter, Courtney Jean.

His life will be honored with a private memorial service at a later date.  Hyke Funeral Home ( www.hykefuneralhome.com ) in Redfield is assisting Jeff's family.
