Jeremy Johnsen, 29, of Redfield, SD died Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Ipswich, SD. His funeral will be Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Redfield. Reverend Tim Fugman will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 1-8:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and the family present at 5:00 p.m. (www.thelenfuneralhome.com)
Jeremy was born August 6, 1982 in Huron, SD to Kevin and Julia (Geuther) Johnsen. Jeremy moved to Minot, ND after his father joined the Air Force, where he welcomed home a little sister Amber in 1986. The family was later transferred to California where Jeremy enjoyed playing with Amber and his dog Magic. In 1994 the family returned to Redfield where Jeremy enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also attended Redfield School. Jeremy participated in many Special Olympics where he enjoyed the activities and won many medals. Jeremy graduated from Redfield High School in 2002. Following High School Jeremy moved to Aberdeen and made his home at the Adjustment Training Center. He began working at Aspire where he did contracted work for 3M. In 2010 Jeremy welcomed his only nephew, Alastair, into the family. Due to a medical decline he moved to Ipswich Golden Living Center in September 2011, where his mother is Director of Nursing.
Jeremy enjoyed being outdoors, swinging, bowling, playing his keyboard, roller skating, Christmas Lights, trees of ALL kinds,watching movies, and most of all spending time with family.
Jeremy is survived by his parents Kevin and Julia of Redfield, his sister and brother-in-law Amber and Will Traube of Redfield, and nephew Alastair Traube. He is also survived by his maternal grandparent Robert Geuther of Mount Vernon, SD and paternal grandparents Vona Jean Johnsen of Redfield and Norman Johnsen of Redfield, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Jeremy has joined his maternal grandmother Patricia Geuther in Heaven.
