John Jospeh Carmody, 74, of Wessington, SD, died Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Good Samaritan Society in Miller.

John was cremated and a graveside service will be Friday, April 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Cemetery in Miller. Father Chester Murtha will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the American Legion in Miller. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

John was born June 9, 1940 to Shiel and June (Ferguson) Carmody in Douglas County, SD. He served in the Army Airforce Special Forces in Okinawa during the Vietnam war. He received commendations as marksman and sharpshooter.

He is survived by sisters Goldie Boggs, Francis Carmody, Betty Carmody and Barbara Johnson; 7 nieces and 6 nephews.

John was proceeded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Mattson and a brother Daniel Carmody.
