Obituary

John K. Rahm, 89, of Turton, SD, died Friday, October 18, 2013 at Manorcare Healthcare in Aberdeen. John was cremated and his memorial funeral mass will be Monday, October 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Turton. Father Mike Kelly will celebrate the mass. Cremains burial will be in the St. Joseph's Cemetery with military rites. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

John Kenneth Rahm was born in Conde, SD, October 12, 1924, the second of six children, to John J. and Clara (Veatch) Rahm. He was the valedictorian of his graduating class in May 1942. In June 1942, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country, during World War II, until 1946. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Crewman Wings with 3 stars for meritorious achievements.

John married Joyce Ann Mannie on November 19, 1946 and they lived in Turton all their lives.

John enjoyed hunting, fishing, telling stories and playing cribbage.

Happy to have shared his life are his children: Nancy (Larry) Coats of Springfield, VA; Sally (Loel) Larsen of Custer, SD; and Brenda (Bud) Hansen of Watertown, SD; his daughter-in-law Lynette Rahm of Turton. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joyce, his son Donnie and two sisters: Mabel Morgan and Mary Rahm.
