Obituary

John Alan Reineccius, 78, of Redfield, SD, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 23, 2017.  His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Wesleyan Church in Redfield.  Pastor Josh Kendrick will officiate.  Burial will take place at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield.

Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield.  Family will be present during this time to accept condolences.  A prayer service, with Masonic Rites, will follow at 7:00 p.m.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home.  (www.hykefuneralhome.com)

John Alan Reineccius was born February 26, 1939 in Grantsburg, WI to Aubrey and Doris (Grything) Reineccius.  He spent part of his childhood in Webster, WI before moving to Rush Point, MN.  He attended Dale Country School and then Cambridge High School in Cambridge, MN prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy.

After his military service, John married Jean Linder on September 26, 1959 in the Lutheran Church in Rush Point.  They lived in several places in Minnesota before moving to Redfield.

John spent his career as a tool and die machinist.  In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, reloading, steam engines, fixing lawn mowers and saving old pieces of history.  He was a Mason and a lifetime member of the NRA.

His family will remember him as a loving, hardworking, honorable and respectful man who was always helping others.  He had a gift for storytelling, including some tall tales.  He was a memorable man who never complained but was very determined in everything he did.

John is survived by his wife, Jean of Redfield; his son, Daniel (Jean) Reineccius of Hibbing, MN; and his two daughters:  Denise Harms of New Hope, MN; and Diana (Donny) Soderquist of Redfield.  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his brother, Gary (Terry) Reineccius of St. Paul, MN and his beloved dog, Rex.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dana Reineccius; his infant brother, Dallas; his sister, Marianne Reineccius; and his infant great-grandson, Marshall Krona.
