Obituary

Jordan Scott Severson, 19, of Zell, SD, died Friday, May 22, 2009 at his home near Zell. His funeral will be Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Redfield. Reverend Brian Wasmoen will officiate. Burial will be in the Hope Cemetery in Hope, ND on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Jordan was born September 7, 1989 to Dave and Ranee (Hjelmstad) Severson in Fargo, ND. He grew up in New Rockford, ND and the Hope, ND area on the family farm. Jordan was active in track, baseball and football in Hope before moving to Zell in his sophomore year of high school. Jordan graduated from Redfield High School in 2008. He wore number 65 on the high school football team. After graduation he started college at Moorhead Technical College (MSCTC-M) and was preparing to start flight school in Fargo.

Jordan had worked at Blume Seeds for the last three years and helped his brother-in-law Brent Knutson with his construction company. Jordan was a 4-H member and enjoyed music and movies. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, snowboarding and most of all hunting and spending time with his friends.

Jordan is survived by his family, his mother Ranee (Armon) Zens of Zell, SD; his father Dave Severson of Hope, ND; his brother Jason of Fargo, ND and his sisters: Jess (Brent) Knutson and their children Avery and Stetson of Battle Lake, MN; and Justine of Zell, SD. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents Arne and Donna Hjelmstad of Towner, ND; paternal grandparents Loran and Kaye Severson of Hope, ND and his paternal great grandmother Neva Visby of Hope, ND and many uncles, aunts, cousins and Armon's family.

Jordan was proud to be godfather to his niece Avery.

He was preceded in death by his uncles Darwin Hjelmstad and Scott Severson.
