Joyce Marlene (Schumacker) Jungwirth, 72, of Zell, SD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Avera McKennan Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones.  Per Joyce's wish, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. Joyce Marlene Jungwirth was born August 26, 1949, in Oakes, ND, to Elmer and June (Davis) Schumacker.  She grew up near Fullerton, ND, to later graduate from High School in Guelph, ND.  Joyce later attended Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD for medical transcription.

She married John Jungwirth on September 7, 1974, and three children were born to this union.  They lived on a farm near Zell, SD, she continued to work as a medical transcriptionist for a few years, before she decided to stay home and work on the farm and raise her family.

Family was very important to Joyce as she loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a very supportive wife and mother.  She loved the outdoors, gardening, and baking often and sharing her baked goods with others. She was always taking lunches out to the field and helping with chores.  She loved to play cards and go to pie and coffee socials.  She was a firm, loving, humorous, and intelligent woman.

Joyce is survived by her husband, John, of Zell, SD; her two sons: Justin (Amber) Jungwirth of Mobridge, SD, and their family, Jenna, and Ava; Jed (Nicole) Jungwirth of Redfield, SD and stepson Trever; her daughter Jonda (Micheal) Whirledge of Huron, SD and their son Whit. Joyce is also survived by her sister Judy Jacobson; and her brothers: Jerry (Marcie) Schumacker and Larry (Laura) Schumacker; and a sister-in-law Virginia Schumacker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Tom Schumacker; and brother-in-law Darryl Jacobson.
