Judy Ann Groft was born April 11, 1948 in Redfield to LeRoy and Bertha (Beardemphl) Groft. She was raised in Redfield and graduated from Redfield High School in 1966. She married Wilbur (Bert) Masat on July 10, 1966 at the Redfield United Methodist Church. Two children were born to this union: Sheila and David.
Judy and Bert lived on the family farm until they moved to Redfield in 2009. Family was very important to Judy and she enjoyed caring for her children and grandchildren as well as her parents and parents-in-law in their later years.
She was involved in many community organizations including: Lodi Pastime Club, Cowbells, Bluebirds, and Sheltered Reality. She was a Sunday school teacher, a 4-H Leader, a chaperone for FBLA and served on boards of both the United Methodist Church and Good Samaritan Center. She recently helped start the club, "Hope Floats", which helps families in the community.
Ceramics, sporting events, camping, bowling and having coffee with family and friends were a few of Judy's hobbies. She will be remembered for the love she had for her family, for her giving and caring demeanor, her warm smiles, her jokes and pranks and letting people know exactly where they stood with her.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Bert; her daughter, Sheila Hansen of Aberdeen, SD; and her son, David (Gena) Masat of Redfield. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jake Hansen, Sawyer Hansen, Lizzie Hansen, Sonja (Austin) Muellenberg and Stetson Zens, Sutton Masat and Sully Masat. Her sister, Bonnie (Terry) Eszlinger, of Las Vegas, NV and her precious dog, Rudy, also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
