Judy was born November 4, 1959, in Huron, SD to Elmer and Lila (LaBrie) Hansen and grew up on the farm near Turton where she cared for the animals, participated in 4-H and learned to cook. She attended Turton School for a few years and then Doland High School, graduating in 1978. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Northern State University, she started working for Spink County Equipment in 1983. She met Dave Taylor while working for John Deere, and they lived together for thirty years east of Redfield. Her bubbly personality, winning smile, and caring nature made her a favorite among all who worked and did business there. Judy continued working for Spink County Equipment, later becoming RDO Equipment, until ill health forced her to retire.

Judy enjoyed baking, watching the Minnesota Twins, caring for her pets, helping at Relay for Life and camping. As a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, she often donated her famous homemade pies. Her pride and joy was her son Colton and following his activities was her favorite past-time. She also spent her free time attending sporting events to watch her nieces and nephews play. Her love of cooking made holidays with her family special because she was famous for bringing her strawberry-pretzel salad and her waffle cookies. She celebrated every holiday with excitement, making and delivery Valentines, Easter treats and May baskets, and trick-or-treating with the kids, but Christmas was her favorite because she spent time with her family making cookies and candy for all to enjoy.

Judy is survived by her long-time companion Dave Taylor and their son Colton (Colette Steiner); her bonus family: Jeremy (Melissa) Taylor of Redfield and their children: Abigail and Braiden; and Kristina (Tony) Rieffenberger of Watertown and their twins: William and Izabel. Judy is also survived by her mother Lila Hansen of Turton; her brothers and sisters: Larry (Linda Griffiths) Hansen of Warner; Linda Hansen of Warner; Harley Hansen of Turton; Rod (Carrie) Hansen of Turton; Brian (Jill DeWitte) Hansen of Redfield and Keith (Stephanie) Hansen of Redfield and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Elmer and her niece Jocelyn.
