Katherine Yvonne O'Daniel, 83, of Redfield, formerly of Athol, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 14, 2016, in Apache Junction, AZ. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Reverend Gregory Frankman officiating. Burial will follow in the Athol Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 5-7:00 p.m. with Yvonne's family present starting at 6:00 p.m. to accept condolences. There will be a scriptural prayer service with a time to share memories starting at 7:00 p.m. at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Yvonne was born on July 12, 1932 in Aberdeen, SD to Leo and Esther (Reed) Galvin. She grew up in the Athol area and eventually ended up living on the farm she grew up on. She and her husband, John, raised their family there. She graduated from Athol High School and always enjoyed the school reunions that she attended.

She married John Pearl O'Daniel on May 29, 1957 in Athol. They were married for almost 59 years and enjoyed a long and happy life together. She was a telephone operator in Redfield for many years, but excelled at being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always happiest when she was around family and thoroughly enjoyed seeing her grandkids grow up and have families of their own. She could never get enough of the time that was spent with the grandkids and great-grandkids when they would come to visit.

Yvonne loved playing cards. As anyone that knew her would know, anytime she could talk someone into a game of cards, she was having a great time! She also enjoyed visiting with her "coffee ladies" both in Redfield and in Apache Junction. Going to Leo's in the mornings for coffee was one of the main things that got her going in the morning! She was very fortunate to be in relatively good health this year when they went down to Arizona, and got to enjoy doing a lot more than she had been able to do in the past couple of years. She really loved going on rides with John and seeing all the sights, although he may say that she slept through a lot of it! And let's not forget their nightly drive around Redfield to see what was going on in town! They also took many vacations together and saw a lot of the country. She was loved dearly by her family and friends and will be sorely missed.

Yvonne is survived by her husband, John, and their three children: Mary O'Daniel of Aberdeen, Jeff (Kay) O'Daniel of Redfield and Mike (Debbie) O'Daniel of Athol; five grandchildren: Heather (Landon) Roach and their three daughters Kyleigh, Lennyx and Alyvia; Jason O'Daniel (Tifani Zens) and his daughter, Paige and her son, Deklyn; David (Casi) O'Daniel and their children Kiara and Tristen; Joel (Megan) O'Daniel and their son, Beckett; and Sara (Chris) Minnick and their daughters Savannah & Cassidy.
