Kathy Ellen Hoff, 56, of Redfield, SD, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at her home. Her memorial service will be Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. by the bridge in Redfield Park where some of Kathy's ashes will be released in the water. Immediately following the service in the park, everyone is welcome to attend another service and time of fellowship at Gene and Theresa Samelson's farm at 38705 176th Street, Redfield. Kathy's ashes will be spread among some of her favorite plants at the farm. Kathy's sister, Pastor Ann Stebbins, will be officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home, Redfield. Kathy Ellen Hoff was born on December 14, 1959 in Dayton, OH to Hank and Kay (Harlan) Gunckel. She was raised in California before moving to Cedar Rapids, IA. Kathy moved to Redfield 2 A½ years ago. Kathy enjoyed painting and gardening along with visiting friends and family.

Kathy is survived by her daughter, Krystal Hoff of Cedar Rapids; her parents, Hank and Kay Gunckel of Simi Valley, CA; her sister, Ann Stebbins of Simi Valley, CA; her brother, Jim (Mary) Gunckel of West Lake Village; her sister, Rhonda Gelardi of Paradise, CA; her brother, Steve (Rhonda Nelson) Gunckel of Redfield and her sister, Theresa (Gene) Samelson of Redfield. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Kathy is preceded in death by her sister-in-law Melanie Gunckel and her grandfather James Harlan.

The family would like to thank Heidi Gehrke along with all the staff at Redfield Clinic, Community Memorial Hospital and Randall Pharmacy.
