Obituary

Kenneth Franklin Buss, 87, of Redfield, SD, died Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Redfield. Ken was cremated and his memorial service will be Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield. Father William Osborn will celebrate the mass. After a time for fellowship and lunch the burial will be in the Rockham Cemetery with military rites. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Ken was born May 16, 1922 in Rockham to Henry and Ida (Werth) Buss. He grew up in the Rockham area and graduated from Rockham High School in 1941. He moved to California and worked for the Ford Motor Company. Ken served in the United States Navy during World War II and was recalled, to duty, during the Korean War. Ken married Nicki Holcomb and they had two children Gary and Janine. Ken owned and operated a marina in Springfield, OR before moving to Redfield in 1995. He married Argie Joyce on January 15, 1995. They lived in Redfield and spent their winters in Yuma, AZ.

Ken enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. He sang in a men's choir while he lived in Springfield.

He was a member of Clay Kiser American Legion Post #92 and Paul A. Schleher VFW Post #2755.

Ken is survived by his wife Argie Joyce Buss of Redfield; his children: Gary (Beckie) Buss of Culver, Oregon and Janine Tucker of Maui, HI, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, his sister Beatrice Ratliff of Watsonville, CA and nieces and nephews. Ken is also survived by Argie's family: Steve (Marilyn) Joyce of Sioux City, IA; Brent (Jane) Joyce of Sidney, NE; Randy (Barb) Joyce of Redfield; Vince Joyce of Lower Brule, SD; Michelle (John) Schiley of Webster, SD; Lisa (Paul) Cosato of Redfield, sixteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mildred Levtzow.
