Kenneth E. Dawson, 85, of Redfield, SD died Monday, July 30, 2012 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. His funeral will be Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at First Congregational UCC Church in Redfield. Reverend Tim Fugman will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield.

Kenny was born August 16, 1926 in Redfield to James and Bertha (Best) Dawson. He grew up on the family farm in Exline Township near Redfield. He graduated from Redfield High School in 1944. Kenny served in the United States Army from 1950-1952. He married Wanda Binger February 7, 1951 in Huron and farmed, west of Redfield, all his life.

Kenny was an active member of the First Congregational UCC Church and served on various church boards. He was a member of the Clay Kiser American Legion Post #92, 40 et 8, and the Masonic Lodge.

Kenny enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and bowling. He was an avid supporter of youth baseball through the Legion.

Kenny is survived by his wife Wanda Dawson of Redfield; his daughter Peggy (Bill) Rose of Colorado Springs, CO and their children: Tony, Jenna and Tim; and his son Scott (Kerry) Dawson of Redfield and their children Jacob and Lindsey (Brock) Moulton. He is also survived by his three great grandchildren, his brother Dean Dawson of Enumclaw, WA; and his sister Barbara Binger of Redfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
