Kevin R. DeYoung, 44, of Frankfort, SD, died Monday, July 25, 2011 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Kevin was cremated and his memorial service will be Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Redfield. Reverend Brian Wasmoen will officiate. Kevin was born June 22, 1967 to Jerry and Maryalice (Roeber) DeYoung. He grew up on the family farm near Frankfort and graduated from Redfield High School in 1986. Kevin was a talented mechanic and could fix anything. He worked as a mason for a Watertown company and worked on the Midrise Apartment building in Redfield and other buildings in the area. In May of 1987, he had a diving accident and has been a quadriplegic since. He enjoyed living on the farm and being the straw boss.

Kevin enjoyed auction sales, driving in the country checking out the crops and cattle, watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. His favorite past-time was spending time at The Habitat with his friends. Kevin was at his best when he was playing with his nieces and nephews; Katie, Ethan, Bailey, Kara, Danielle, Aleigha, Christian, Josie and Axel.

Kevin is survived by his two children: Kyle and Amy, his parents Jerry and Maryalice of Frankfort, his brothers: Brad (Margot) DeYoung of Redfield; Scott (Katina) DeYoung of Rapid City, SD; and Darin (Jessica) DeYoung of Frankfort. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his uncle Warren.
