August 17, 1938 – August 6, 2023
LaQuita Nadean Mager Wedell was born on August 17, 1938, to Reinhold Richard Mager Sr. and Marie Sophia (Christine) Jockheck in Redfield, South Dakota. LaQuita went home to our Lord and Savior on August 6, 2023.
LaQuita received a Bachelor of Arts degree at Wartburg College and participated in the Master's program at the Alfred Adler Institute. LaQuita was employed with Chisago County as a social worker when she met Burton Wedell. They married in 1963 and were blessed with four children. LaQuita enjoyed gardening throughout her life and was thrilled with the nickname "The Rose Lady" while working at Chisago Lakes Hospital in the rose gardens. LaQuita was always eager to volunteer at her home church of Immanuel Lutheran Church and throughout the community.
LaQuita is lovingly remembered by her children Marilissa Marcello (Tony), Benjamin Wedell (Lanette), Dr. Laura Aasen (Dan), and Brian Wedell (Julie); sisters Inez Booze of Redfield, SD and Delvonna Smith of Richland, WA; seven grandchildren Anna, Sarabeth (Adrian), Rachel, Lexis, Lacey, Blake, and Donald; step grandchildren, Halle and Dalton; and many nieces and nephews. LaQuita is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Maxine Hanson, Glenn Mager, Cecil Mager, Reinhold (Dick) Mager Jr., Bonita Fuhrmann, and Valeria Camarena.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church (37515 Park Trail) in Almelund with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. A light luncheon will be served immediately following the service.
A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 21, 2023, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield, South Dakota, officiated by Pastor Joy Proper of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Redfield.
Family and friends are invited to join us in remembering LaQuita's earthly endeavors and celebrating her eternal life in heaven.
