Obituary



Lavern Alvin Hague, 89, of Tulare, SD, passed away at his home under hospice care on Monday, March 13, 2017. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD. Pastor Todd Bowers will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. There will be lunch and fellowship at the Bethany Bible Baptist Church in Tulare following the committal service.

Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home. Family will be present during this time to accept condolences. Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. (www.thelen-hykefuneralhome.com)

Lavern Alvin Hague was born in Redfield, SD on July 13, 1927 to Frank and Bernice (Schmidt) Hague. He lived all his life in Buffalo Township, 12 miles southwest of Tulare where he farmed. He graduated from Tulare High School in 1945. In 1951, he served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was wounded on September 15, 1951 and received the Purple Heart. Before being shipped to Korea, Lavern attended a Billy Graham Seattle, WA Crusade. He went forward and received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.

In 1959, Lavern married Lillian Anderson and to this union a daughter was born. Lillian died of cancer in 1964.

On November 15, 1968, he married Lynn Newman and two sons were born to this union.

Lavern loved spending time with his family. They will always remember his kindness and integrity as well as his humble, caring and loving personality.

Lavern is survived by his wife, Lynn; his daughter, Donna (John) Guenther of Olmsted Falls, OH; his two sons: Ronald (April) Hague and Steve (Donna) Hague, both of Tulare and his grandchildren: Kathleen (Clay) Ludlow; Kristine (Aaron) Borns; David, Isaac and Jacob Hague. He is also survived by his great-granddaughters: Everlee Ludlow, Delta Borns and Mae Ludlow as well as his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lillian and his sister, Eleanor Binger.
