Leanne Levtzow, 80, of Redfield, SD, died Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield.

Her funeral will be Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Pastor Lorah Houser Jankord will officiate.

Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery in Howard, SD.

Leanne Winfield Hanson was born January, 22, 1932 in Madison, SD to Leon and Sylvia (Reeve) Hanson. She attended school in Howard, SD and graduated from Redfield High School in 1950. Leanne and Trevor Levtzow were married in Redfield in 1954. They lived in Redfield until 1965 when they moved to Huron, SD. They moved back to Redfield in 1974. Leanne worked at the ASC office and as a nurse's aide at Community Memorial Hospital.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bowling and golfing. Leanne also was an avid follower of the activities of her grandchildren. She will be always remembered for the special place she held in her heart for animals.

Leanne is survived by her children: Steven Levtzow of Benbrook, TX; Liz Levtzow of Albuquerque, NM; Susan (Mark) Schaffer of Redfield and Shelley (Anthony) Pignone of Goodyear, AZ. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Rustin Schone, Eric Levtzow, Emily Schaffer, Andria Ruvalcaba and Nico Pignone.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Trevor in 2006 and her granddaughter Athena Grace Pignone.
