Leland B. Strahl, 93, of Redfield, SD, died Friday, November 27, 2015 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield.

Leland's funeral service will be Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. Fr Gregg Frankman will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 1-7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Leland was born March 19, 1922 to Benjamin and Emma (Kragenbrink) Strahl. He attended country school and graduated from Ashton High School in 1940. Leland married Lucille Wiedeman on December 18, 1945 in Mellette. They farmed until 1974 when they moved into Ashton. They owned and operated the Ashton Elevator Company and Strahl Trucking. They moved to Redfield in 1997.

Leland is survived by his wife, of nearly 70 years, Lucille; his nephew Kevin (Debbie) Carlson of Peoria, AZ; brother-in-law Gus Carlson of Huron; his cousins: Jerry (Dianne) West of Ashton; Judy (Tom) Embleten of Washington, Lucille's nieces and nephews: David (Sally) Wiedeman of Lakewood, CO; Douglas (D) Wiedeman of Arvada, CO; Terry (Jennifer) Wiedeman of Redfield; Nancy (Ralph) Fehlman of Ashton; Diana (Gary) Nielsen of Warner, SD; Penny (John) Newbauer of St. Paul, MN and Cindy Fisher of Lennox, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carrol Carlson, Lucille's parents and Wiedeman brothers: Galvin (Evelyn) and Melvin (Cardella).
