LeRoy A. Anderson, 61, of Redfield, SD, died Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen. His funeral will be Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield. Father Christopher Hughes will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2-7:00 p.m. with the family present from 4-6:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com
LeRoy was born September 12, 1951 in Aberdeen to Lloyd and Ethel (Monson) Anderson. He grew up in Mansfield and graduated from Northville High School in Northville, SD. LeRoy married Mary Seiler September 23, 1972 and they lived in Aberdeen for a few years before moving to Redfield in 1977. LeRoy was known as "Snappy" at the bowling alley before he worked at the Coachman Supper Club. He was the cook at Terry's Steakhouse for many years. He then worked at South Dakota Developmental Center-Redfield for a few years in the kitchen.
His grandchildren were his pride and joy, he spent many hours playing in the park with them and playing cards and games with them. He also enjoyed playing Bingo.
LeRoy is survived by his wife of forty years Mary of Redfield; his daughter Janell (Heath) Shottenkirk of Redfield and their children: Johnathon, Elizabeth, Alexander and Nichalous; and his son Allen (Misty) Anderson of Colman, SD and their children: Sheldon and Shandon. He is also survived by his sister Linda Anderson of Aberdeen and his brother Merlin Anderson of Huntsville, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Jodi, and his siblings: Marlys, Lyle and Marilyn.
