LeRoy Arthur Fitzgerald, 85, formerly of Rockham, SD passed away August 18, 2015 at St. Paul's Healthcare Center in San Diego, CA.

LeRoy was cremated and graveside services will be held at Rockham Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2015. Reverend Marty Toepke-Floyd will officiate. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

LeRoy was born May 31, 1930 to William Robert and Linnie (Hartwig) Fitzgerald on the family's farm two miles south of Rockham. He attended country school in Hand County until grade six and then Redfield Public School until he graduated in the Class of 1948.

LeRoy served in the United States Army from 1948 until 1951. He was a member of the 438th Army Band at Camp Stoneman, in Pittsburg, CA. He graduated from the University of South Dakota at Vermillion in 1954, earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting.

He lived in San Francisco, CA from 1954 until 1974. During that time he worked for the Southern Pacific Co., Pacific Motor Trucking Company and the State of California Public Employees Retirement System. In 1974, he was transferred on the job by the State of California to San Diego, where he opened the first office for the Public Employees Retirement System. This office served San Diego, Imperial and Orange Counties. He retired on October 1, 1980, and spent his retirement years traveling in and around San Diego.

LeRoy is survived by a sister Lila Lea Seeman of Oceanside Ca.; his nieces Janet Parker of California, Marvyl Connolly of Arizona, Trudy Seaman; and nephews Dale Bostad and Grant Seaman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and three sisters.
