Lillian Mae Stephens, 92, of Redfield, SD, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Golden Living Center in Redfield, surrounded by her family and those that loved her. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Redfield. Reverend Stephen Perry will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. Lillian Mae Christianson was born March 19, 1922, to Hans and Kari (Thoarsgard) Christianson, in Ortley, SD. In 1932, her family moved to Bonilla, SD where she was raised and educated.

On December 22, 1940, Lillian married Ellis Stephens at Hitchcock. They had four sons and two daughters. They made their home in the Hitchcock and Bonilla area before moving to Redfield.

Lillian worked for SDDC-Redfield for 26 plus years before retiring. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing cards, camping and fishing with her family and friends.

Lillian is survived by five children: LaVerne (Barb) Stephens of Redfield, Shary (Jim) Stemper of Hartford, Floyd Stephens of Redfield; Dennis (Diane) Stephens of Redfield and Brenda (Tom) Svoboda of Schuyler, NE; 32 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ellis in 1996, an infant son Lanny, her daughter-in- law Linda Stephens; 1 grandson Bradley and 1 great grandson Matthew; 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
