Lloyd was born December 25, 1923, on Christmas day, exactly two years after his brother Gordon, to Elmer and Emma (Lunstrum) Hansen in Redfield. He grew up on the family farm southeast of Redfield during the Great Depression, where he learned his hard work ethic. Lloyd attended Rosebud Country School in Lodi Township and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1942. He worked for a short time in California before being drafted into the United States Army. He was stationed at West Point, NY and received the World War II Victory Medal. After his discharge in 1947, he returned to the family farm and started farming with his father.
He married Ramona Lutter on August 18, 1950 in Redfield. To this union four sons were born: Mario, Terry, David and Darcy, who were raised on the family farm. He later bought the family farm from his father in 1970 and continued to farm his entire life. He later remarried. Lloyd entered the Golden Days Living Center in 2002 due to Alzheimer's.
Lloyd was a leader of the Frankfort Ringneck 4-H club for twelve years and his four sons and six grandchildren were all members. He was a Mason for fifty-seven years, belonging to the Frankfort Lodge #77 and later to the Redfield Lodge #34 AF&AM. He was a life long member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, a Lodi Township Board member, Clay Kiser American Legion Post #92 and UCT member for many years.
Lloyd's favorite pastimes were dancing, traveling, hunting, working on the farm, watching the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared his life are his four sons: Mario (Gloria) Hansen of Redfield; Terry (Brenda) Hansen of Redfield; Dr. David (Anita) Hansen of Beverly Hills, CA; and Darcy (Victoria) Hansen of Monument, CO; grandchildren: Susan Jo (fiancAC.
