Louise Ida Boots, 98, of Redfield, SD died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Her funeral will be Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Redfield. Reverend Peter M. Utecht will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. Visitation will be Friday from 1-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:30 -7:30 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com
Louise was born November 27, 1912 near Rockham, SD to Paul and Ida (Mager) Ehrich. She grew up in the Rockham area and graduated from Rockham High School. Louise married Paul Boots on October 9, 1939 in Bemidji, MN. They lived in Iowa for a short time before moving to Redfield. She worked in the kitchen at Redfield Public School, cleaned at the Redfield Clinic and Wishing Well Motel.
Louise's life was caring for her family. She always had time for her children's events and especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and various craft projects. Louise and Paul enjoyed camping, traveling and playing cards throughout their lives.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and Women's Group, Learn-A-Little Extension Club and Whist Marathon.
Louise is survived by her children: Francelle (Robert) Fuss of Redfield; Daryl (Sandy) Boots of West Point, NE; Wayne (Mary) Boots of Redfield; and LaVonne Riechers of Volga, SD. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren: Randy, Rick and Rod Fuss, Kevin Boots, Lana Hagedorn, Robin Buterbaugh, Roy and Ross Boots, Jason and Amber Riechers, seven great grandchildren, two sisters: Delphine Irwin of Phelan, CA; and Ruth Neil of St. Paul, MN and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul in 2002, her son-in-law Bill Riechers, her sister Leila Hullinger and an infant brother Ernest.
