Lowell "Ed" Sharp Jr., 74, of Mina, SD, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Sioux Falls, SD. Private burial will be at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD (www.hykefuneralhome.com).
Lowell Edward Sharp Jr. was born June 27, 1950, to Lowell Edward Sharp and Evelyn Elizabeth Davis, at the County of Rio Arriba, New Mexico. Ed grew up and attended school in the Albuquerque, NM area.
At age 17, Ed joined the Marines and was sent to and served in Vietnam. After his service in the Marines, he returned to Albuquerque and started working and learning the building trades and construction. Ed spent his life in construction in many locations across the country and settled in California for 30 years, working in many aspects of the business.
In 2006, Ed and his life companion, Barbara Romo, moved to South Dakota and he worked at the Redfield and Aberdeen ethanol plants and settled at Mina Lake, SD. After retirement, he and Barbara enjoyed lake life and boating around the lake on their pontoon.
Ed is survived by his daughter Kyle, grandson Evan, granddaughter Erin, and his sister Sharron Sharp.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Brenda.
