Lucille Phillips Robinson Binger, 82, died Nov. 22, 2008, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Michael Dormady, in Shawnee, Kansas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield. Father William Osborn will celebrate the mass. After a time for fellowship and lunch, the burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery in Frankfort, SD.
Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m. with wake service at 7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home (www.thelenfuneralhome.com).
Lucille Phillips was born in St. Charles, SD, on June 5, 1926, to Owen and Eva M. (Romans) Phillips. She was the youngest of three brothers and two sisters. Lucille attended school in St. Charles until moving to Frankfort, SD in 1935 where she graduated. On June 4, 1945, Lucille married Martin Robinson at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Frankfort, SD. They made their home in Frankfort with the exception of a brief move to Palmdale, CA in 1957. During their time in Frankfort, they gave birth to two daughters and two sons. In 1963, the Robinsons moved to Redfield. After this move, Lucille worked at Medical Arts and later at Dick's Bootery. Martin and Lucille were active in card playing, square dancing, municipal band, church, and hosting gatherings for friends and family. They were known for their grace and ease on the dance floor. Martin died unexpectedly on Sept. 4, 1979. In 1980, Lucille moved to Rapid City, SD, for one year then returned to Redfield. On May 10, 1988, Lucille married Clyde Binger at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield, SD. They shared an interest in card playing and visiting friends and family. Due to a recent decline in health, Lucille was residing in Shawnee, KS, while being cared for by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Michael Dormady.
Grateful for having shared in her life is her husband, Clyde, of Tulare, SD; her children, Jennifer (Michael) Dormady of Shawnee, KS; Jacqueline (James) Schnittgrund of Rapid City, SD; Philip (Barbara) Robinson of Anchorage, AK; Timothy (Janice) Robinson of Shawnee, KS; and twelve grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Vera Phillips, two step-daughters, Dar (Harold) King of Huron, SD; Pam (Brian) Hull of Tulare, SD; two step-sons, Terry (LaVonne) Binger, Clark; Reed (Juli) Binger of Huron, SD; 16 step-grandchildren and 22 step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Martin; one granddaughter, Amy Louise Robinson; her parents, three brothers, John F. (Melba) Phillips, Kenneth C. (Lillian) Phillips, Harry Newton Phillips and two sisters, Helen D. (Calvin Blair) Kenison and Hazel M. (Fritz) Bicknese.
A memorial has been established.
Casketbearers will be Lucille's grandchildren.
Gift Bearers will be Lucille's great grandchildren.
