Lyle Glenn Hoellein, 71, of Athol, SD, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.  Private family services are planned with the assistance of Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD.  ( www.hykefuneralhome.com )

Lyle was born May 24, 1950, to Glenn F. and Eileen (McNeely) Hoellein in Aberdeen, SD.  He was raised on the farm northwest of Athol.  In 1968, he graduated from Northville Northwestern High School and then attended tech school in Omaha, NE for Auto Mechanics and Body Work.  Lyle proudly served his country as a member of the South Dakota National Guard for six years.  He worked at Spalding's in Aberdeen before opening Hoellein Garage and Body Shop on the farm in 1976.

On August 27, 1988, Lyle married Diane Schafer in Salem, SD.  He enjoyed farming, tinkering with vehicles, and caring for his animals.

Lyle is survived by his wife Diane, son Carl, stepson Brad (Julie), brother Gary (Lynn), nephews, and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his parents.
