Obituary

Lyle Schone, 87, of Redfield, SD and formerly of Frankfort, SD, died Thursday, June 05, 2008 at Golden Living Center in Redfield. His funeral will be Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Frankfort. Reverend Dann Pageler and Reverend Grace Rhodes will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Frankfort with full military rites. Visitation will be Monday from 1-8:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Lyle was born September 8, 1920 in Frankfort, SD to Reinhart and Lena (Harris) Schone. He grew up in the Frankfort area and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1940. Lyle served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1942-1945. After his discharge, he worked for an electrician in Redfield and as a mechanic in Redfield and Frankfort. In 1956, he opened his own mechanic shop in Frankfort. Lyle married Rose Mattus-Schone on December 13, 1964.

Lyle was a member of the Frankfort United Methodist Church, Clay Kiser American Legion Post #92, Paul A. Schleher VFW Post #2755 and served on the Mt. Hope Cemetery Board.

Lyle is survived by three brothers: Richard Schone of Tucson, AZ; Clyde (Mary Ann) Schone of Redfield, and Melvin (Angie) Schone of Bakersfield, CA and one sister Wilma (Don) Pageler of Hitchcock and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers and one sister.
