Lynne Schultz, 70, Tulare, SD, died of cancer on Monday, April 11, 2016, in Redfield, SD. Funeral service will be Thursday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Tulare United Church. Pastor Lorah Houser Jankord will officiate. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5-7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home. Arrangements are entrusted to Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. (www.thelen-hykefuneralhome.com)

Lynne was born January 13, 1946, to Elmer and Del (Decker) Lips of rural Hitchcock. She graduated from Tulare High School in 1964 and from St. John's School of Nursing in 1967. She married Alan Schultz on June 1, 1968, at Tulare.

Early in her nursing career, Lynne worked at St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, the Mobridge Hospital, and the McLaughlin Hospital. In 1975, after moving with Alan to the farm at rural Tulare, Lynne worked at James Valley Nursing Home and later served as Spink County Health Nurse for 29 years.

After her first bout with cancer, Lynne helped organize the Spink County Courthouse Relay for Life Team and promoted fundraising and awareness activities. She also enjoyed bike riding, traveling, gardening, working in her half acre of asparagus, and quilting with friends.

Her husband Alan died in 1992. Survivors include one daughter, Nicole Schultz (Dustin Duwa), Iowa City, IA; one son, Wade Schultz, Huron, SD; two sisters, Crystal (Tony) Benning, Madison, SD and Rosemary (Mel) Wieting, Minneapolis, MN; one brother, Alan (Lynn) Foglesong, Houston, TX; and one brother-in-law, Robert (Cindy) Schultz, Tulare, SD.
