Marilyn Marie Phillips, 54, of Ashton, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 surrounded by her family at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield, after a courageous 12 year battle with breast cancer. Mass Christian burial will be Thursday, April 21, 2016 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield, at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Gregory Frankman and Reverend Christopher Hughes will celebrate the mass. Burial will be in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in Redfield.


Visitation will be at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with family present, a Scriptural Rosary will start at 5:00 p.m.


Marilyn Marie (Dix) Phillips was born on January 16, 1962 in Redfield to Mathias Joseph and Lois Elaine (LaBrie) Dix . Marilyn was raised in the Turton, SD area and attended school in Doland, SD graduating in May 1981.


Marilyn then moved to Redfield, and lived with her parents. She was working as a cook at the South Dakota Developmental Center and that is where she met the love of her life, Eddie Phillips. Marilyn also worked at Leo's Good Food, Eastern Star Home, Golden Living Center, and at the South Dakota Developmental Center as a cook and Direct Support Professional.


Eddie and Marilyn were married on February 9, 1991 and they made their home in Ashton, SD. They had three beautiful children, Gary, Ruth and Mark.


Marilyn is preceded in death by both her parents and grandparents.
She is survived by her husband Eddie Phillips; her children: Gary Phillips , Ruth Phillips and Mark Phillips, all of Redfield; her siblings Joe (Diana) Dix, Karen Dix and Tim (Roxy) Dix .
