Mark Alan Steffen of Redfield died Friday, December 2, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

His funeral will be Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Wesleyan Church in Redfield. Reverend Josh Kendrick will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield, SD.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 3-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Mark Alan Steffen was born February 26, 1967 in Omaha, NE to Maynard and Maxine (Corum) Steffen. He was raised and educated in Omaha. He met Cindy Hord in 1989 through friends and they married in 1990. Mark and Cindy moved to Redfield, SD in 1997 to have a nice quiet life and to be closer to his family. He enjoyed fishing, camping and loved talking on his C.B.'s. Mark also enjoyed meeting new people, watching Nebraska football games and spending time with his family and friends. He loved his dogs; they were like family to him. Mark will be remembered as being very caring and having a big heart.

He is survived by his wife Cindy of Redfield, his son Karl Kalinowski of Omaha, NE, his mother Maxine, his sister Monica (Jeff) Porter, his brother Mick and his girlfriend Suzie Evans, all of Redfield. He is also survived by his nephews Chad Steffen of Redfield, Tim Steffen and Amanda Diede and their daughter Piper of Avon, SD, and his niece Nicole Meadows of Houston TX.

Mark was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Claude and Grace Corum and Floyd and Irene Steffen.
