Marlene Ruth (Stover) Franks, 82, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, March 23, 2018. Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD with Reverend Marty Toepke-Floyd officiating. Interment will be at a later date at the Ashton Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hyke Funeral Home with prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Family will be present at this time to accept condolences.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home (www.hykefuneralhome.com)

Marlene Ruth Stover was born in Redfield, SD to Benjamin Harold and Harriet Lucille (Lenth) Stover on February 26, 1936. She married Eugene Franks Sr. in 1952 in South Carolina. She worked various jobs through the years to support her family, but her most cherished "job" was caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Marlene was a faithful Ft. Pierre Women of the Moose Chapter 1497 member and was the Senior Regent from 2009 to 2010. She took pride in the famous chicken and dumplings she would cook for various Moose functions and fundraisers. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Moose Lodge in Ft. Pierre until she moved to Aberdeen in 2014. She also enjoyed big family gatherings and seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren as they grew.

Marlene is survived by her son, James (Roberta) Franks Sr., of Yankton, SD and their children: James (Jamie Lynn) Franks Jr.; Karen (Justin) Reick; Daniel (Andrea) Franks; and Jennifer (Jeff) Jasso; her son, Russell (Lisa) Franks, of Redfield, SD and their children: David (Jennifer) Franks; Ryan (Amy) Franks; Stacey (Chance Osterkamp) Franks; and Rebecca (Austin Berry) Franks; her daughter, Elizabeth Franks, of Aberdeen, SD and her children: Ashley (Nicholas) Bartscher; Meagan (Colin) Williams; Brittany (Adam) Sayler; and Andrew (Justine) West; her son, Eugene (Tammy Jean) Franks Jr., of Sioux Falls, SD and their children: David (Emily) Franks-Naylor; Laura Beth (Pete) Franks; Crystal (Lance) Long; and Tina (Donny) Brummett; and the children of her late husband: Dianna (David) Batchelor of Tombstone, AZ; Victoria (Jeff) McLain of Redfield, SD; Michelle Franks of Redfield, SD; and Mike Franks of KS. She is also survived by one brother, Jim (Bev Taylor) Stover of Ft. Pierre, SD; one sister, Carole Jansen, of Aberdeen, SD; and too many great-grandchildren to count!

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Terrance Eugene Franks; step-grandson, Levi Zens; infant great-grandson, Noah Jasso; and brother-in-law, Roland Jansen.
