Marlys Doreen (Overbo) Ellis was born in Crosby, North Dakota on April 26, 1935. She graduated from Divide County High School in 1953. In 1957 she spent a year in Santa Monica, California where she worked for Douglas Aircraft as a bookkeeper.

When she returned to North Dakota, she lived in Williston and worked as a receptionist for the Plainsman Hotel. While working there, she met her husband Delvin Ellis, a salesman for Edward Don & Company. They were married on January 29, 1966 in Williston and moved to Redfield.

In 1974, her family moved into the Lakeview Apartments, before it was even completed, and became the resident manager. She always took great pride in keeping the apartment building spotless and the lawn in pristine shape. She continued to manage Lakeview Apartments until October 2015.

She worked for many years as a checker at the Sooper Dooper grocery store and Dean's Jack & Jill. She also spent several years volunteering for the Redfield Boy Scout and Girl Scout organizations when her children Craig and Debra were active members.

She had hobbies that included collecting dolls and angels in all forms. She enjoyed attending church, caring for the Lakeview Apartments and visiting with her grandchildren every chance she got. She loved being a mother and grandmother.

Marlys is survived by her husband Delvin of Redfield; her two children: Craig (Heather Robertson) Ellis, Forestville, CA; Debra Harrison, Omaha, NE; two grandchildren: Reagan Harrison, Natalie Harrison, step-granddaughter Rachel Robertson, sister Arlotte (Thomas) Foshag, Lakewood CO; sister-in-law Jody (Norris) Overbo of Fond du Lac, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers Irving and Norris Overbo.
