Obituary

Martha Rose Stellmacher, 98, Hitchcock, SD, died Friday, March 27, 2015, at Sun Quest Health Care Center in Huron.

Her funeral will be Tuesday March 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Redfield, SD. Reverend Brian Wasmoen will officiate.

Burial will be in the Tulare Cemetery.

Martha was born March 8, 1917 at Crandon, SD to George and Rose (Schroeder) Harms Sr. She was baptized on April 9, 1917 at the American Lutheran Church in Crandon. She was confirmed on May 10, 1932 at the Crandon Lutheran Church.

Martha grew up and attended school in Crandon. She took care of her mother and helped on the farm for many years. She married Erich Stellmacher on February 12, 1944 at her home place in Crandon. They farmed near Hitchcock, SD. She belonged to the Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Merry Mixers Club. She enjoyed her flowers and garden. Erich passed away on October 5, 1991. She continued to live on the farm until January 26, 2015 when she broke her hip and moved to Sun Quest Health Care Center in Huron.

She is survived by one daughter Joyce (Dale) Tipton of Pierre and one son Dale (Leanna) Stellmacher of Hitchcock, SD. Four grandchildren: Lance (Shirley) Howe, Nicholas, Tim and Corina Stellmacher. Two great grandchildren: Jordanne Howe and Dalton Howe. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son-in-law Andy Howe and four brothers: Herman, George, Elmer and Martin Harms; three sisters Charlotte Alberts, Ruby Kopplin and Mabel Meyer.
