Marvin Hausvik, 88, of Redfield, SD, died Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. His funeral will be Monday, June 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Redfield. Reverend Brian Wasmoen will officiate. After a time for fellowship and lunch the burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen, SD with full military rites. Marvin was born July 16, 1919 in rural Turton, SD to Martin and Emma (Hall) Hausvik. He graduated from Turton High School and worked in the Civilian Conservation Corp before serving in the United States Army from 1941-1945. Marvin was a sergeant in the Army and helped train troops while stationed in California. He married Elizabeth Gronhoy on June 29, 1952. They farmed in the Turton and Conde area for many years. In 1989 he semi-retired and moved to Redfield. He also was a rural mail carrier for many years.

Marvin was a past member of Bethany Lutheran Church and a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Marvin served on various community boards, was a sixty year member of the Conde American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Yelduz Shrine and Redfield Lions Club.

Marvin is survived by his wife Betty of Redfield, his son Robert (Vicki) Hausvik of Dell Rapids, SD; his daughter Janet (Raymond) Logid of Circle Pines, MN; five grandchildren: Ryan and Nick Hausvik, Melissa Izenberg, John and Jacob Logid; and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters: Avis Hansen of Redfield, Clarice (Vince) Seeman of Rapid City, SD; and two brothers: Rodney (Sheila) Hausvik of Turton, SD; and Jim (Jody) Hausvik of New Brighton, MN and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister and an infant daughter.
