Marvin was born on the family farm to Henry and Sylvia (LaBrie) Mannie on August 17, 1933. After Henry's death, Marvin shared the farming business with his mother and helped raise his younger siblings. Later, he, along with his mother, moved to Redfield, and he worked for ASCS of Spink County until retiring in 2000. His love of farming carried on to his home in Redfield, as he enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, and a variety of apple trees.
He married Ruth (Haney) Eppard on December 30, 1993, and became an instant Dad and Grandfather. He was present at many family activities. His love of dancing took Marvin and Ruth to various areas of South Dakota.
Marvin's love for serving extended to regular visits to the Eastern Star Home, as a member of the Knights of Columbus, scheduling many blood drives, as a bingo caller, and being a true servant of the Lord.
