Marvine Ernestine Roeber, 96, of Redfield, SD, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022, at the Eastern Star Home in Redfield.

Marvine's visitation will take place on Friday, October 28, 2022, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Eastern Star Home Chapel, with an Eastern Star Service beginning at 3:45 p.m.  For those attending, proof of Covid vaccination and a face mask are both required.  All guests are asked to enter through the main door.  Visitation will then follow at Hyke Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Her funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Hyke Funeral Home with Reverend Keith C. Kraft officiating.  Interment will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Tulare.

Marvine was the youngest of five children born to Ernest and Clara (Hardie) Schmidt on Dec. 14, 1925.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John's Lutheran Church, Crandon, SD.  She completed all 12 years of schooling in Tulare, where she graduated in 1943.  After serving 2 years as Spink County Deputy Auditor, she married her classmate Paul on her 21 ^st birthday in Redfield at the Lutheran parsonage, a marriage that lasted over 63 years.  They purchased the Roeber family farm, where they resided until 1986.  In 1983 the family celebrated their century farm with nearly 200 friends and family.  After raising her family, she was employed by the South Dakota Wheat Growers-Tulare as a clerk.

Marvine enjoyed playing cards and bingo, attending baseball games, painting and firing ceramics, and creating pheasant feather jewelry and hats.  She assisted with publishing the 1961 St. John's E&R 70 ^th anniversary booklet and the Tulare Community History 1883-1983.  She was a lifelong member of Tulare O.E.S. #148.

After retiring to Redfield, she volunteered at Community Memorial Hospital and Redfield First UCC Church.

Marvine is survived by her son Douglas and wife Darla, Maryville, TN; daughter Jacki and husband Rick Jensen, Loveland, CO; five grandchildren:  Pat Roeber (Ellen) Carrboro, NC; Karen Dunn (Steve) Maryville, TN; Reis Roeber (Becca) Catlett, VA; Alexis Grammes (Matt) Bedford, NH; and Tommy Jensen (Claire) Richfield, MN; ten Great Grandchildren:  Drew, Reagan, Luke Roeber; Jessica, Lauren, Alyssa Dunn; Ryan, Cole, Case Roeber; Max Grammes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, her parents, one brother Walter Schmidt, and three sisters, Maxine Beardemphl, Hazel Case, and Mildred Therkildsen.
